Attending the game != giving money to the program
Attending games is the bare minimum. It's the bottom line expectation. We wouldn't be having this discussion if we didn't check off that box.
I think that you're making excuses.
I do agree that BYU fans are at a disadvantage because of large families, tithing, church obligations, etc, etc, etc... We attend games and buy the $5 t-shirts.
Some BYU fans go all-out--but most don't. We need more fans that donate to the program, go to games, buy the gear, and support in any way possible.
Now, compare our program to other "big time" programs. Most of these programs have foundations that pitch in > 50% of the coaching salaries so that state/university funds aren't used.

Big thing that needs to change is the coach has to be LDS requirement. Look how many years BYU wandered before LaVell
