My FIL, who is a big UofU fan, was Executive Director of the Missionary Dept.
for many years. He stated on more than one occasion that BYU sports were a great missionary tool for the Church. He had the stories to back it up.

Lol, nobody is arguing that coaches can't be LDS...look at Genaro Gilford, Ed Lamb, Grimes, Mateos, Schroyer, etc.
