Receiver routes seem comically simplistic. It's hard to see on TV but when watching in person there are a lot of soft routes but very few double moves, rubs, or even basic zone flooding routes to confuse the secondary.
Play calling probably could be better, but i don't really know enough to be a great judge (excepting a few obvious short yardage calls). But I do know enough to comment on the route strategies. There seems to be very little. Heck, we were using moves in high school that 3rd string byu receivers taught us that I don't see happening. Maybe some resident utah fans could comment on the pass game they had with him.
I'm sure all the coaches know way more about football than I do. I don't know if I'm wrong or if the routes really are so basic.
