made this drive 20-30 times now. Agree that the Flag route is prettier but I don't like driving through Flag in the dark due to elk and deer but it should be light enough out when I get up there. 89 through the res has about 20 miles of very bumpy road between Cameron and The Gap then it smooths out. Be prepared to do a lot of passing on single lane roads between Flag and I-15 if you are driving fast. I cut over to I-15 on the 20 north of Panguitch. It's a good road but goes over a few high elevation passes so if snow is in the area you may want to continue north up the 89 to some of the bigger, lower elevation passes instead. Travel safe!
