He is living a life of luxury. Wow.
Medical school sucks up your entire life. I can't imagine doing it that late and with so many other obligations. I'd just want to play with my kids and pursue hobbies. Seriously, medical school is 10-12 hour days of studying for 2 years and then 60-80 hours of in hospital work with another 10-15 hours of studying after work for the next 1.5 years. Then you start residency and work 70-80 hours a week for 3-7 years depending on your choice plus more studying outside work. Not only is it a lot of work but it's endless exams and stress. Most medical careers have one board exam. An MD requires 4 to be certified. Plus your specialty has their own board.
I come home every night exhausted from a long day at work and then make dinner, take the dog on a walk, and spend some time with my fiance. I try to study but usually don't have the time or energy. I can't imagine adding 4 kids into the mix. I would never have enough time for them. I'm sure many people work as much as I do and make it work but I'm not sure why you'd give up that current lifestyle for 8+ years of misery chasing a supposed good. Being a doc is good but has plenty of downsides.
