BYU should be an attractive job for an aspiring coach. We have tradition. The state produces more football players than it's population has any business in producing. It is tied to a fantastic institution. There is good donor support. We have a national championship and legacy.
I'm so sick of the BYU is a crappy job noone will come boohoo. Yeah, we don't let our athletes get drunk or have sex. If that is what an athlete wants, go elsewhere. But BYU can and should be able to find 80 good to premier athletes who are okay committing themselves to going to church, not drinking and not having sex. BYU should also find 1 LDS head coach who can demand excellence from his team and himself.
I don't think BYU fans are delusional. We want a quality program. We want to be top 25-caliber. We are not trying to fire a coach because he lost to Alabama - we want a coach who can beat crappy G5 teams and occasionally Utah.
