But....

* I hate watching this once proud program many of us have supported and loved - not for years but for DECADES - in this slow...agonizing death spiral.

* I hate the apparent apathy from the BYU administration and the BOT to this situation. Both the school and the Church teach us to strive for excellence...set goals...etc...but they seem fine with fielding a team that is...at best....mediocre...as long as the program is "clean." What a LOSER...defeatist attitude and paradigm. Hey SLC - take the shackles off (stop micromanaging) AND open the checkbook or JUST END THE PROGRAM like Ricks. Get off the fence. This is sad and embarrassing.

* I hate that fans whose whole experience knowledge-wise with football *might* be playing Madden can see basic things wrong with the offense and defense that Grimes and Tuiaki seem incapable of seeing. You don't need to have coaching or even playing experience to know that on 3rd/4th and short...you run a quick-hitting power play...not a fly sweep or a wide play against teams with faster...more athletic players. You don't need coaching experience to know you need to pressure an opposing QB occasionally...or against running teams...bring your LBers up closer to the LOS. You don't need to be a former coach to know your receivers need to be taught to run PAST THE STICKS on their routes when trying to convert 3rd or 4th downs. Or to call a play to convert a short yardage situation and keep the drive moving instead of getting cute and throwing a deep fade or go route on 3rd/4.

* I hate that players who make KEY mental or discipline mistakes seem to get a free pass...are not confronted or coached up on the sidelines and go right back into the game. Do they get held accountable before the whole team for their mistakes during game film review? Does the team even DO game film review/debrief before turning the page and starting to prep for the next opponent? I wonder. Does the guilty player...or their position group or the team ever have to run gassers or any of the old-school measures used by coaches to instill more focus and discipline?

* There's more hate....but I need the rest for the Democratic debate and the liberals.

I don't want anyone's life ruined. But this program is beyond broken and sinking fast. We've seen the best this staff has to offer IMO. Remember the classic definition of insanity?

Time for a change.
