to the media anyways. Put it into their contract that they are not even allowed to talk to the media at all. No halftime, postgame, or practice interviews. Have someone like Chad Lewis or Ty Detmer hang around the program as a consultant and handle those interviews instead. Those interviews would probably actually be more entertaining. They can actually offer an informative opinion without disclosing the coaches' gameplan.
BYU just needs a public figurehead "coach" that won't become a national news headline for every little misstep. The BoT does not want the false narrative that "BYU plays dirty" to be extended to the coaching staff. That's probably one of the biggest reasons that our head coach needs to be LDS.
Hire a head coach and let him be the hermit he's always wanted to be. He can watch the coaches show from his couch at home if he wants.
