Regardless means “without regard”. Irregardless is a clunky synonym for regardless and includes the prefix “irr” meaning not, so technically it means without-without regard, which is a doble negative meaning it has regard. However, it has been used colloquially in English as a synonym for regardless so it can be used, even though it a longer way to say the same thing.
