BYU can't continue to repeat the mistake of hiring inexperienced coordinators
(calling a D as DC) because it has significant consequences. No matter how much of a BYU guy, nice guy, LDS, whatever. I can't think of a coordinator where inexperience hasn't resulted in a setbacks that cost years, at a time when BYU cannot afford it. Let alone repeating the mistake. I think Poppinga is def a good potential DC in the future, but at this level, at this time in the programs history w/ a slipping trajectory, I say control the stuff you can control, and don't repeat costly mistakes. Hiring a DC w/ experience is something we can control. That's my take, after all untested good guy hires that cost us a couple years minimum to rectify.
