I’m not into labeling people as racist. But what he said was racist. Not very many Jazz game attendees are from rural hicktown USA that talks like they’re from the bayou or something. And then sits that close to the court. I know a lot of farmers from rural Utah and Idaho and they don’t talk like they’re from the South.

Maybe he didn’t know that the term “boy” like that was as bad or offensive, but he was clearly aiming his remarks at the player and he was trying to belittle him.

I don’t consider myself an expert on what’s racist or not, and I’m definitely guilty of unintentional microaggressions, I’m sure. But when I saw that video, I seethed at how big a jerk that guy was being. I felt his remarks were racist, and I’m sure in the court of public opinion, he’d overwhelmingly be guilty as charged.
