This post and the responses to it really made me think.

The truth is this isn't really Utah smack, though it could be taken that way. This seemed like the best category.

I'm going through the Utah grads I know, the ones that actually attended the school and I'm surprised by how many I know are actually BYU fans. I assume that is the exception and to be fair I know several Utah fans who did masters programs at BYU as well but the numbers are much more shallow in that direction. It could easily be the demographics I interact with and that the majority of those are church related or long-time friends often church related but the experience still holds true. Even at work there is one Utah grad, was an athlete there actually and he is a BYU fan who can't stand his alma mater. I have a boat load of Utah fans in my office, probably 70%, but almost none of them actually went to the school.

When I think about it, most of the Ute fans I know did not go to the school and don't even have a recently family member who attended school there. Kind of consistent with that school drawing all the anti- BYUers. Not really saying anything with this other than it seems weird and no wonder they have a hard time raising money. I agree that the commuter school element has to be part of the problem.

How does your circle break down? Do you know a lot of Cougar fans that attended the U?
