When I built my house I had a platform built for my washer and dryer to sit on.
you could probably buy the material to build a platform yourself for less than those pedestals cost. Looks good, like a large step, 2x4 framed then has flooring on top and sheet rock to match the walls for the sides although you could make it fancier if you want. The only drawback I can see for doing it after the fact is I had the outlets and plumbing, etc put up higher to accomodate the platform/step. You could probably use cutouts in the back of the platform to make that work though since they won't be visible because they'll be behind, beneath the washre and dryer.
