Saw the original movies. It’s not for the Star Trek audience, it’s for kids. I went to Disney a few weeks ago with my wife and kids. They are huge Disney fans, I’m not so much. But I wanted to see the Star Wars land. It was awesome. Not because of any one thing, just it brought me back to my childhood of wondering what it would be like to stand by the millennium falcon or see the places in the movie. That’s Star Wars, just entertainment for kids and for adults to think back at how exciting it was to see Luke and Chewy and Solo. I never have gone to a Star Wars movie looking for anything except entertainment. Some have been good, others not so good. I couldn’t even tell you the names of the new characters except maybe Kylo or Ren and honestly they may be the same person, I don’t know till I’m watching it. But it’s just entertainment for me like the marvel and DC movies are for those into that.

But Star Wars has many casual fans like me who don’t care about character development or historical accuracy, we know it’s not real and just for fun at a kids level. So I will be there opening weekend, I haven’t bought my tickets yet but we will enjoy it, and maybe I won’t see it again when it comes out, but even if it sucks I’ll still watch it and watch my kids watch it and hope someday they do similar for my grandkids in creating family memories. It’s just a movie and for most dads an actual family movie you don’t dread seeing in theaters with your kids.
