I doubt it's music thieves. Why steal music when you can stream it for free on

Spotify. If you don't want to listen to ads, it's only 9.99 a month. Why would I ever buy another song let alone a physical CD again if I can get it for very cheap or free? The problem is that artists don't earn nearly as much money from streaming as they did from album sales. With albums they would have 1 or 2 hits and fill the rest of the album with a bunch of crap. They can't get away with overcharging for filler anymore, and so people are only streaming 1 or 2 of their songs, which is much less revenue than an entire album would have generated back in the day. They've got to make up for that lost revenue somehow. Hence the increase in touring and pricier concert tickets. You can't get the live concert experience on Spotify, and people are willing to pay for it.
