And I can tell you that TCU isn't a very "Christian" school and SMU doesn't seem to be super-Methodist either. They might be on board for a conservative conference with religious undertones, but my guess is that they would not.
- SMU broke with the Methodist church on the church's vote which banned same-sex marriage and homosexual clergy
- TCU has been trying to distance itself from Christianity for more than a decade (preferring to be referred to as "TCU" rather than "Texas Christian")
Travel arrangements in that conference would also be tough (3 time zones—literally covering everything from the east coast to the western edge of the Rockies and spanning almost the entire latitude of the lower 48).
Lastly, I don't think it would be a very friendly conference for BYU. The LDS Church (especially recently) has emphasized collaboration with other religions and a liberal "come-as-you-are" stance toward other faiths and cultures. My experience (as a missionary in the south and as someone who has lived in TX) is that other Christian religions still don't consider LDS people to be Christian—and while they might like their Mormon acquaintances or neighbors, they hate the LDS Church. Things might be really nasty for BYU in that conference—Catholics, Protestants, Soldiers and Mormons might be a really bad mix.
