You can hike all day in some of the back trails during peak season and not see another human.
It is in the northeastern corner of Oregon. Snake River is close. Wallowa Valley just to the north — think Chief Joseph and Nez Pierce tribe. The area reminds me of the Sierra Nevada without the hordes of people.
