role in either the instigation or escalation, claim total innocence, and it's all the other side's fault. I don't think it was BYU team's running that earned the blame on our side of the ledger. IIRC, most of CB was down the middle, but there were several who would lose their minds if you didn't claim BYU was 100% guiltless and unfairly victimized. I do think the coverage post brawl wasn't balanced at all and was mainly unfair towards BYU.
And I think it's generally inaccurate those that claim BYU is an inordinately dirty team. Some wanna remember every BYU incident, whereas the mental bookmarks for other team's ugly incidents don't exist unless it's a major rival. Everyone thinks their rival is filthy, due to the mental bookmark thing. Because of this phenomenon, too many writers paint BYU as dirty. And too many fans think their team never has an ounce of culpability. But, fair or not, like it or not, an religious institution is gonna be held to an unfair standard. Especially if it's a school and institution w/ some political and racial stands that America seemingly won't forget or forgive. To some, controversial politics and religion combined, fuhgeddabout it. Best to develop a very thick skin, lest ye resort to the victimization card.
