Kalani deserves the extension when viewed through the paradigm the BYU BOT measure success: Kalani himself is an excellent representative of BYU and the Church. He is a really good person, member and leader of young men. He displays excellent sportsmanship, humility and appreciation for the fans and players. He has done nothing to remotely embarrass the school and a lot to bring respect and acceptance. I dare say even die hard Ute fans don’t hate us quite as much under Kalani.

And he probably renewed for a significant discount than what other HC’s would demand.
