Most on the board have said Jay is interested because he's been warned of the challenges that come with BYU and the extra work that you have to put in as a coach at the school. Who do you think has given him that information? Kalani and Roderick are the two people closest to Hill who would have first hand information. If they took a coordinator job to him, with form, doubled his salary and he doesn't necessarily have to fill that mission president role and doesn't hurt his resume at all. If anything it adds to him being ready for a higher level FBS job and pays him out more. I could see the appeal.
I wouldn't say it would be probable, but with a lot of former co-workers, a substantial pay raise and a more refined and directional scope of responsibility, I think he would at least want to listen.
