it’s a slightly nicer participation ribbon than everyone else in non-CFP bowl games gets.
As it is, the CFP is basically just the +1 Bowl, as calling it a playoff is ridiculous.
The sooner we can go to 12–16 playoff teams — eight at the very least — and simply use the classic bowl settings for the championship games, the better.
