My first one was on the outdoor court next to the dorms at Ricks...
...just off of the asphalt surface. Through high school I had really sore knees and inflamed patellar tendons in both knees. They hurt just to touch them. One of my coaches nick-named me Geritol in high school because they made it so difficult to get around.

Then I noticed after a year since I had stopped growing that my knees weren’t hurting like before. We used to play on that outdoor court a lot after classes at Ricks and so I just kept trying and trying to dunk with a determined resolution to get it. I got closer and closer until finally got one down. After that it was like the glass ceiling had been shattered. My knees eventually stopped hurting completely and I found it easier and easier to dunk.
