Stanford defeats North Carolina for the National Championship.
In PK's after a scoreless regulation and two 10 minute overtime periods.
Well earned by Stanford. Deserving. Outplayed UNC.
But it was an interesting defensive contest. Stanford, especially in the first half, could not get that relentless, dominating attacking rhythm going. North Carolina was clearly better than all previous Stanford opponents, including both BYU and UCLA, who Stanford went through like a hot knife through butter.
Stanford took control of the game in the second half but UNC's defense was tough.
I'm posting in this category because BYU was part of the drama earlier in the tournament.
