Go listen to malcom gladwell's revisionist history podcast about memory.
In summary, he talks about memory and how it changes over time. There are major studies regarding memory. After events (such as 9/11) the study had people write down the memory in as much detail as possible. After just 1 month it was completely different.

My entire trust in memory in general was destroyed when listening to this podcast. It has changed my perspective regarding my experiences, experiences others have relayed to me and memory in general. It's a very fascinating subject.

So for me, those who "remember" something from when they were 1 probably don't actually remember it, even if it seems so vivid. And it's not their fault.
