Agreed. That is why we never felt the need to tell them before they figured it
out on their own. I remember the year I discovered Santa was not real (was around 11). It was probably devastating at the time, but in hindsight, I am grateful my mom didn't ruin it for me and let me figure it out on my own.
No need to force the kids to lose the magic before it needs to happen IMO.
