- We are six years into the 12 year TV rights contract with ESPN, so there's no urgency to change. Agreements are through 2026 for the championship game.

- Pac-12 commissioner states that he only supports expansion if it means guaranteeing spots for each P5 conference champion.

- Pac-12 would be protective of the Rose Bowl (longtime partner) so that would injure the idea that you incorporate current bowls into an expanded playoff.

- Big-12 commissioner would like each conference to require its members to play at least 10 P5 games. Pac-12 commissioner echoed this thinking by saying that he'd also like to see more consistency among the conferences in how they schedule.

Two lines of thinking on this:
First, I wonder if this line of thinking would kill the G5 bid plan since it's impossible for G5's to play 10 P5's (conference or non-conference), or if this would be an agreement among P5's and then they'd throw G5's a bone.
Second, I wonder if the desired consistency with scheduling would cause some conference realignment. SEC has 14 teams. Big 10 has 14. ACC has 14. Pac 12 has 12. Big 12 has 10. Simply telling the Big12 and the Pac12 that they have to play the same number of P5 teams as the other conferences doesn't really work. It would even the playing field for the at-large bids, but each Big 12 team would still have a much higher probability of making the playoff than the teams of any other conference because there are less teams fighting for the conference champion spot. I guess it's possible that the 14 team conferences wouldn't care very much, but I like to hope that there will be some push at some point to make the Big 10 or even the Pac 12 expand.

- He also said that ADs are less fixated on the playoff than they are fixated on attracting student-athletes, keeping the fan base happy, and keeping alumni engaged.
