an entire class with just players from the state? There are extremely important states involved because Utah not only offers so much, but there's typically a certain number of position groups with enough quality. You're simply not going to be finding a bunch of skill position guys every year. You're looking at OL, LB, DL for the most part. No program in the state that wants to be half decent can make Utah a huge priority like some schools can in other states. You have to know when to draw the line and look elsewhere. BYU should never be filling up on in-state guys. There simply isn't enough quality or quantity to make the program competitive. It's the same for Utah. They understand this. Same with USU. They'll attempt to get what they can and then move on.

We can complain about the very top recruits leaving but that just is what it is and there's nothing the in-state schools can do about it. BYU and Utah will never fend off every major program in the nation coming in to steal the top guys. They have to be ok with that and go elsewhere.

They'll always try for what they can at the top, and they'll get some of that good mid level talent, but Utah isn't THAT big of a deal. It's not like UGA where they have like 80 out of 110 players from the state of Georgia.

BYU needs to be even better than they are at branching out to other states. I still don't understand why we can't build up more of a Texas presence. CA is a clear #2 and BYU could easily make a living there with a huge chunk of their roster if they wanted. AZ will always be up there. Texas needs to be on the list more. We even have coaches from down that way so it needs to materialize better. The effort was there a bit more with Pugh. But Grimes should still have more of a presence there.
