He's gone from indiscriminately slaughtering anyone that gets in the way of his ego or his bounty.
Now he has people pointing guns at him and he'll try to talk them down, even putting his blaster away.
Ultimately, I think they fumbled this series, at least for season 1. There doesn't appear to have been a cohesive writer or writing team that wrote the season, instead just trying to mix and match styles of a narrative storyline, and episodic repetitiveness.
