We all know too well the challenges BYU faces. Indepedent schedule, Honor Code, LDS coach, religious school, money, etc. These challenges are huge and on paper, BYU shouldn't do well as a program all things considered.
Yet, look at this last year. Fix some moronic coaching issues and BYU has a 10 win season against a decent schedule. Despite all the challenges, BYU is a capable of putting a pretty good team on the field that is capable of taking on 75% or more of teams in college football on a regular basis.
Sometimes I think the program is doomed. We'll never be great because of X issues. Then we somehow beat USC, Tennessee, Wisconsin and have other nice wins. Then we lose to no names.
I really can't figure out where the glass ceiling is for BYU.
