Regardless if they're GA's or not, I'm sure LaVell wasn't the main factor

for Andy Reid (for example) becoming a HC after one whole year as a GA and only 15 yrs as an assistant elsewhere. Just saying the whole 'tree' thing is overblown for the most part. LaVell had many assistants that remained assistants with him for many yrs as well.
