I'm looking at a 31' double slide bumper pull trailer. It has everything I'm looking for, including a king bed and a bunkhouse for the grandkids. I'm experienced in pulling trailers and large boats, so I'm not too concerned about the trailering aspect, and I don't plan on going much further than up and down the west coast (I live right in the middle).
I have a 1/2 ton GMC Sierra with a trailering capacity of 12,500 pounds, and the unit I'm looking at has a GVW of 6615. I purchased the Sierra with a higher axle ratio, just to help in pulling when I do.
I'm aware that it will not get used as much as I think it will. I have space in an empty warehouse to store it, free of charge. My thought is that me or any of my 4 kids living near me can take it with their family whenever they'd like. I'll be purchasing a used unit, I'm aware the depreciation curve is steeeeeep the first couple of years on RVs.
I'm just not very knowledgeable about the trailers themselves, although I've watched a few Youtube videos and feel pretty smart already. I won't be using it in cold winter or snow, although the unit I'm looking at is considered a 4 season trailer.
Any thoughts for a noob?
