My current work car cost me $12 a day including lots of use outside of work.
I paid $8,000 for the car 5 years ago. It is worth about half that now.
$80 a month in gas. $180 a year for registration and tax. $100 a month for maintenance and repairs and $50 a month for insurance.
As you can guess I don't drive a really nice car but it has been very cost effective.
Despite all that there are a ton of reasons I prefer owning a car to Uber. I can go and stop whenever I want, listen to my own music, not have to talk to, smell or a stranger, ect.
