I have probably a dozen or so friends/acquaintances colleagues who are around the same age as me. They'd probably be up for PPD positions soon if they hadn't left. Most of these guys were LDS, and it's of course a sample size limited to my acquaintances, but your path seems to mirror most of the people I knew who took that route.
