Depends on the specific job. I’m more fine with it for jobs that are otherwise hard to staff, dangerous, etc.

There is a reason it exists. It is incentive to take an otherwise less desirable job. You take away that incentive then

I think it’s a good incentive to have for what typically is lower paying jobs

Why not just take that money and pay higher salaries? More equitable.
byuwahoo
1/23/20 6:39pm
It’s the same thing, and most people don’t want those jobs

Company (or Non-Profit) has nothing to do with repayment, the Government forgive
akmewg
1/23/20 9:57pm
Yep. So the govt could effect higher salaries through tax cuts
byuwahoo
1/23/20 10:11pm
Uhhh, theses are non profits that don’t pay (or pay very little) in taxes
akmewg
1/23/20 10:18pm
LOL. the employees pay income tax on their salaries. Lowering income taxes

Salary and Take home pay aren’t the same. You keep trying to change what you are

I'm not changing anything. Sorry I'm not explaining it well enough for you

I'll be eligible for loan forgiveness in several years. But by the time I reach 10 years
Cougarrr

You're right it's not. By the time I'm eligible for loan forgiveness I'll have paid off as much as I borrowed in the

If I understand it correctly, this can’t happen. Federal loans are on a 10 year

If you have a job that pays well then you'd typically have your loans paid off after the required 10 years of payments

My problem is the radiologist that makes $400k per year, but gets her loans

The requirement for 120 payments in an amount dependent on income self selects out the very well paid
Slim
1/23/20 7:53pm
Yeah it's totally misunderstood. People just assume everyone's loans are paid for them.
