People use cashier’s checks to pay for:
Cars/RVs/other toys
House down payment
Rent
Banks will use cashiers checks as part of refinancing to pay off debts at other institutions. Cashier’s checks may not be as common as they once were but to say they are obsolete is just silly.
Work at a bank and you’ll see cashier’s checks regularly.
