So while I agree that recruiting rankings don’t mean everything, we are starting to see a trend where mediocre recruiting classes translates pretty regularly to mediocre results in the Fall.

This is one reason I’m not too hard on Kalani. With the honor code and academic standards we are at a disadvantage to begin with. Then the admin decides it doesn’t “need” to devote the kind of resources to recruiting that other schools that want to play big time football do. And then when the result are recruiting classes that land squarely in the middle of 130 FBS teams we expect the coaches to turn water into wine on the field come Fall against a schedule full of more talented teams.

It’s possible to win games doing that but the margin for error is small, as we saw against Tennessee, USC, USF, Toledo, Boise, SDSU and Hawaii.
