Is there a licensing difference? Do MDs and DOs have the same board certifications? (And I don't know exactly the right terms here, but) what about specialist certifications? (Is there such a thing? and if so, do MDs and DOs have the same certifications?)

If that's all the same, then it seems like using the same term makes sense. Or, I guess, if it's just ultimately the same "job," just arrived at by a different educational path, I guess that makes sense too.

My opinions here come from having a PhD father who constantly talked about being a "doctor," and me being annoyed by it.
