So far, most of the reported cases are in countries north of the equator where it’s winter, so hopefully that’s the case

Yes. Usually reaches its peak in the cold season in both hemispheres.

Iran is fairly cold. Taiwan and Thailand only have 30-odd cases, despite proximity and number of travelers to China
