One thing I've learned joining the Toyota Community is that the reason non-dealer mechanics don't see many Toyotas
isn't that they don't have very many issues, but rather that Toyota owners, as a whole, are more likely to go to the Dealer for service.

And I'm not talking just vehicles under warranty, I'm also talking 20 year old Toyotas. Nearly every Toyota carfax I pull-up from 2003 and up not only has full dealer service records, but also ALL of the dealer "recommended" maintenance done on time.

That's awesome for me (buying used), and somewhat partially justifies the "Toyota Tax" in Utah, but I really have never met a group of car owners as a whole who are so happy to spend thousands and thousands of dollars for unnecessary routine maintenance like "Brake fluid flushes" every 30k miles than Toyota owners are.

There is a guy at my work who also fits this observation. He has a beautiful 5th Generation 4Runner with 180k miles and I asked about any issues, "None, But I let the dealer do everything. And I mean everything. Usually before the recommended mileage just in case." Guy changes his 100k synthetic transmission fluid every 30k miles. That's insane. He doesn't even tow.
