So one day while a student at BYU I was walking through the parking lot to my car near the practice facility. I can't remember if this was 2005 or 2006. Maybe 2007? Anyway, I'm headed to my car and this dude appears out of nowhere and is like, "Hey, you driving?" Totally startled me and he wasn't a small guy either. I'm totally into BYU football but like most fans, don't recognize a lot of the players without their gear on. Anyway for just a split second I was like, "Is this guy about to rob me?" He immediately asks me if I can drop him off at the hospital because he has an appt. I can see he has his hand bandaged. I hesitantly say yes. So we jump in my car and we head to the hospital. He immediately notices I have XMradio in my car and proceeds to tune to HipHopnation and soon starts singing along to the song. There were a few swears but it was all good because I was "hanging out" with a BYU football player. At least, I was pretty sure I was. When we arrived at the hospital he said thanks and I said "what's your name?" and he says Mike. I immediately looked up all the Mikes or Michaels on the team and sure enough, it was Michael Reed. Nice guy. Glad I could contribute to his successful hand recovery. 😉
