Because in previous years our run defense has been quite good. Part of the problem was we were playing a 4-3 scheme (D lines jibe is to eat up all the blockers and let a LB come in and make a play) with a 3-4 alignment where an extra o lineman or TE could go take on the LB in the area. I don’t expect us to be great in pass defensive. That’s unrealistic most years because we just don’t get lots of great DBs. I do expect us to be a good run defense though. We can recruit plenty of run stuffer D lineman and LBs.
