I've debated pellet vs. kamado style and am leaning kamado because of its ability to get to a higher heat to sear steaks and cook pizzas.
It's just me and my wife most of the time, so I'm also thinking the small version of whatever I buy. So I'm leaning Kamado Joe Jr. Could also be swayed by a small Traeger.
Would the Joe Jr., with about a 13" diameter rack, be a mistake? It seems some of the cool features of a Kamado Joe vs. Green Egg are lost in this transition: you can't split the cooking into different levels, or put half the heat shield in. The seal is also felt and not the higher quality fiberglass. Top vent is also a little less user friendly. But the Jr. is only $499 while the Classic Joe is $1,200.
Any thoughts? Still looking forward to smoking some brisket and ribs during the great 2020 lockdown.
