... MASSIVE red flag of the guy initially cooperating, then closing his door and leaving them. Hopefully they did and whatever precautions they were able to take simply weren't enough this time. Either way, it's a sad reminder for other law enforcement officers.

There's been multiple cops killed in just that manner. Tragic situation.
