Getting a haircut from their paycheck. I am a doctor, work for a private practice not affiliated with a large corporation like IHC, and my salary will go down because my work has decreased.
The headline in the story is misleading. (Aren’t they often?!). The ER workers, ICU staff, etc are not getting a cut in pay. It’s those clinics where the elective stuff is mostly done that will take the hit. And if those staff are reassigned to more productive areas, their salaries would ride appropriately.
I don’t have sympathy for those who want to maintain their salary if they are not working. Payment for telehealth visits is a very new thing. One that I am personally getting used to. But, having a packed day of visits versus trying to get things done via telehealth is apples v oranges.
What rubs me the wrong way, though, is that the administration is not taking a cut. Even if their work doesn’t materially change, the optics are just bad. You have to be a team player, and the IHC leadership, according to this article, are not.
