No, they are kicking the can down the road
One of two things are going to happen with the hunker-down strategy
(1) There is a continuous, many month effort, to suppress the virus. During which the virus does eventually reach enough people to build herd immunity for next winter. However, by.the end of this effort, 80 million Americans are unemployed and the economy is bankrupt and fundamentally broken. Mlions more Americans will fall into depression, broken families and social unrest.
(2) The politicians finally realize the cost of their restrictions and relax them before herd immunity is reached. However, being summer, the virus goes quiet. Then in the fall the virus returns and Thousands get sick and start dying. Does the government have us hunker down again?
