believe that Hitler just made a blunder and allowed that many men to escape on citizen boats. It's really quite silly. I'm basing most of my opinion off of what I learned from Victor Davis Hanson, one of the most intelligent Word War II historians I've ever listened to. He's brilliant. But of course we really don't know for certain what was in Hitler's mind. But it is interesting the Sea Lion wasn't planned until a month after Dunkirk, giving some plausibility of leaving the option open for an English alliance .
