You're right, but they had planned to take out the Royal Navy by the air
The Royal Navy likely wouldn't have lasted against the Luftwaffe. The real problem was that they didn't have enough amphibious landing craft. They were planning massive airborne operations, too, but nothing mattered if they couldn't win air superiority over Britain first
