We tried "major network just give us the news" for decades with NBC, CBS and ABC
It failed miserably. It was worse. Slow drip of propaganda under the guise of objective "news".
It created pent up demand, leading to the success of Fox News. It's better this way, with two barking dogs going after each other. No pretense. No Dan Rather having free reign.
