True, but at least he did admit to being liberal.
But, IIRC, he added something along the lines of it was because "how can I not be" with so many problems in the world. So, evidently, one of the most worldly, urbane and sophisticated people anywhere somehow missed the fact that

"answer to world problems = liberal policies"

is NOT some kind of OBJECTIVE truth.

Mr. Cronkite, many people believe that the answer to world problems are conservative policies. Why should your prescription be the one excercised in your news broadcasts every night. And, Mr. Cronkite, even if this is accepted because, well, after all, everyone has a bias and I'm being professional and objective despite this, it still doesn't answer the question of why its acceptable that almost ALL of those in your industry are similarly biased towards the liberal end of the spectrum.

Suddenly, "The Most Trusted and Honest Man in the Country" seems very untrustworthy and dishonest.

Cronkite is another example of someone who's historical reputation declines with the passage of time.
