Nevada's Governor Sisolak entered an executive order this week staying
all evictions and waiving late fees. A landlord can't even post a notice to pay or quit until further notice. Mortgage lenders can't even record a notice of default (i.e., the foreclosure takes place 5-6 months down the road). His order also "requires" landlords and mortgage lenders to give them an additional 30-day grace period AFTER he lifts his order. He also had his department of mortgage lending strongly "urge" lenders to give people a 90-day grace period.

Granted, rent isn't waived, but landlords are left with evicting 3-4 months down the road and seeking monetary damages against people who are essentially judgment proof.

I'm not sure that the government can come in and unilaterally rewrite private contracts like that. The question is whether anybody has the balls AND the financial resources to push back against stuff like this.
